Read All The Books

I loved this book! It was just the perfect amount of spooky/creepy/adventurous/halloweeny. It follows Emilia, a witch who finds her twin sister Vittoria has been murdered so she sets about seeking revenge by using dark magic to summon one of the princes of hell getting more than she bargained for. Wrath is nothing and everything like the wicked stories her Nonna told her about as a child and they form an alliance to discover who has been killing witches on her island to track down who is responsible for her sister's death. Set in Palermo, Italy the descriptions in this book made me want to travel so badly and don't even get me started on the food descriptions. Holy Cannoli was I hungry every time I picked up this book. This book much like the other two books in this series was so much fun! I didn't know much (read: nothing) about Calamity Jane so I really didn't know what to expect going in and I certainly wasn't expecting garou's but that's what makes this so good! All the characters in this were 'chef's kiss.'  I don't know who I loved more, Jane, Annie, Bill, Frank, George...even the bad guys were so bad that they were good. I love the fantastical spin they add to their stories, it makes for a really funny story and you definitely don't need to know the story or Calamity Jane going but it will certainly make you want to learn more about her after you finish this book.  Now while I have said twice already how fun/funny this story is, the best part of this book is the subtle way they show you that just because you are different to others, it doesn't mean you are any less valid than others. Set in a futuristic New York, The Thousandth Floor follows a group of teens living in a thousand story tower and their day to day lives. This read like a futuristic Gossip Girl but I did have a hard time really getting into the story. While a lot of things were happening it also felt like nothing was really happening until the last few chapters when it all went down. I found all the characters to be interesting especially Avery, the genetically perfect human and I LOVED reading about all the futuristic capabilities, hover cars and sending messages via contacts, sign me up! I know this book was mostly setting up for the other books in the series but I wished it had been a little shorter as I felt it dragged a little. I wasn't planning on picking up the other books in the series but after reading the last couple of chapters, I really wanna see where it all goes so will definitely continue on with this series.

Crooked River continues on straight after the events of the previous book 'Verses for the Dead.' Agent Pendergast is called in to assist an investigation in Florida where a large number of human feet have washed up on a beach. No one can figure out where they have come from and he soon calls in his ex-partner Coldmoon to help him with the case which seems to be turning more and more deadly the more they investigate. I definitely enjoyed this book however, I did find it dragged a little at times. I also still do not like Constance. Try as they might I just can't seem to like her and find her incredibly annoying. I also found Coldmoon's character to be completely different to what I remember him being in the previous book and I don't know if it's just me not remembering him or if they changed his personality. I finally made it to the last book in this epic series and wow what a ride it was! So many things happened over the course of this series and there were so many characters I came to love/hate. Overall this entire series was a wild ride that had me feeling so many things from, hate to love, happiness to sadness. This last book was everything. I really enjoyed where she went with the story line and the characters, however I did feel that certain characters deserved better, yes even the ones I said I didn't like in the past. The best part of this book was when the different groups started to meet up with each other. I loved seeing the little reunions, it made my heart very happy. I kind of wish there was another book so that I can live in this world a little longer but I definitely feel that theses characters have been through more than enough and deserve some peace and quiet so when I am missing them, then I will just reread the series. Tower of Dawn follows the perspective of Chaol as he travels to the southern continent to see if he can heal his injury as well as recruit the Khagan to help assist in the war. I wasn't sure how I would feel about this book as I was eager to continue with Aelin's journey and story line to see what happened next but I loved this so much! I loved all the new characters, Irene the healer especially. I like that we had already met her in the Assassin's Blade and that now we got to see her story play out. Borte one of the Ruk riders was especially hilarious and I wouldn't mind a spin of series of her adventures. I feel her and Aelin would be fast friends and can't wait to see if they will actually meet.  I flew through this book. I think I read it faster than any of the others and once again I am a huge Chaol fan, don't know what I was thinking saying I wasn't sure I liked him anymore.  Can't wait to read the epic conclusion to the series! 5 o...

Jay and Amie have done it again. They have created another sci-fi that I will love and cherish forever. A none too small feat for someone who rarely likes or reads sci-fi. Aurora Rising follows a group of misfits in the year 2380 on their first space mission.  Tyler Jones is the golden boy squad leader, who the night before he is to pick the squad of his dreams inadvertently finds himself rescuing Aurora (Auri) a girl that has been trapped in interdimensional space in a cryo-sleep for 2 centuries and misses the draft and finds himself stuck with the dregs of the academy. Making up the sorry excuse for squad 312 is  Scarlett, sarcastic twin sister of Tyler, a sweet talker who is as gorgeous as her brother and has the ex boyfriends to show it.  Cat, tomboy pilot who is definitely not in love with her best friend Tyler.  Zila a genius sociopath who is a little too trigger happy with her stun gun around her squad mates.  Fin, grumpy tech ...

In Empire of Storms, our rag tag group of friends are on their way to gather an army to defeat Erawan. I loved seeing them all work together even when they were trying not to kill one another. It finally started to feel like all the pieces were coming together, right up until the ending when it all went to hell.  I don't even know how to feel about that ending. It makes me question how she is going to end this series. Will she break my heart...probably. I'm not ready but also dying to finding out. I loved seeing the interaction between all the different characters in this group. Also loved seeing some old characters come back into the story. Manon is also certainly starting to grow on me which is something I never thought I would say but here we are.  The next book in the series is told through Chaol's perspective and is a parallel novel to Empire of Storms so it looks like I will be waiting a while to see how this series wraps up.     The Remnant Chronicles is a trilogy following Princess Lia, First Daughter who should have the gift of sight.  The first book, The Kiss of Deception starts with Lia about to be wed to a prince she has never met to secure and alliance between two kingdoms, She flees on the morning of her wedding day and starts a new life in a distant village. Unbeknownst to her, the jilted prince sets out to find her. An assassin is also sent out to kill her. The pair show up in the village where Lia has made her new life and Lia soon starts to fall in love with one of them. The best part about this book is the fact that you don;t know who the prince is and who the assassin is. You are in the dark as much as Lia. The novel is a whole lot of fun trying to work it out until it is revealed. The second and third books, The Heart of Betrayal and The Beauty of Darkness are a whirlwind of drama. This is the last installment of the Caraval series and man is it a bittersweet one. I love this series with all my heart and cannot believe it has ended! I love this entire world and the wonderful cast of characters, so as much as I loved this book I'm also sad that this series has ended. There will be no more new things to discover about this world in the future.  Finale picks up a couple of months after the events of Legendary. The fates have been released from the deck of destiny and Legend has claimed the throne.  Unlike the first two books, there is no game in this one. Everything is very much real. There is no Caraval, just real events and real consequences. This is also told in dual perspective, from Tella and Scarlet's point of views which I think just wraps up both sister's stories nicely. You can get to see both their perspectives and both of their endings. I loved meeting the new cast of characters in this story, the fates truly deserve their own book...

Shatter Me follows Juliette, a girl whose touch is lethal and who was locked away by the Reestablishment 3 years ago. Suddenly they have changed their mind and have decided she is just what they need. A new weapon they can control. The novel is so beautifully written, full of metaphors and similes, it reads like poetry.  Tahereh Mafi does such an amazing job, you can practically feel Juliette's pain through the pages. I did feel like this novel wasn't long enough. I'm not sure how I feel about most characters, I don't feel much attachment to them yet but I assume that will change during the course of this series. I loved the story line though, or at least where I think it is going. There wasn't too much going on in this book until the end when it started to get really good so I definitely can't wait to pick up the next one and dive into the world and it's characters. I gave this 4 out of 5 stars!

So I finally got around to starting this series and I have to admit, I wish I hadn't waited so long to start. I love this series so far! It follows Celaena Sardothien, 18 year old assassin fighting for her freedom by competing to become the King's royal assassin. I loved everything about this book. I love the writing, I love the cast of characters, I love the world and of course the actual story line. Celaena is such a strong female character and I wish I was as cool as she is. I love how she can kill anyone in the blink of an eye but at the same time has a soft side and people want to protect her. Prince Dorian is the sweetest little treasure, I hope he stays that way. Chaol might have been my second favourite character because he is so much like Celaena, a badass who is a big ol softie that deserves all the hugs. It continues on straight after the second book and to be perfectly honest I had forgotten what the cliffhanger was in book 2 because I had put it out of my mind as it was just too upsetting but it all came flooding back within the first page. This whole novel was a wild ride from start to finish. Seeing how the Blackthorn family deals with grief and Emma and Julian fighting their parabatai curse while trying to stop the Clave from the brink of war. We see a lot of familiar faces in this novel which is always a good thing and we also meet a few new ones which is always interesting. When a billionaire's daughter's headless body shows up in an abandoned warehouse, Pendergast and D'Agosta are called in to try and solve the case. Soon more wealthy New Yorkers are found brutally murdered with their heads nowhere in sight and Pendergast and D'Agosta find themselves with no idea who the killer/killers could be. Pendergast is not his usual self in this book as he is still trying to come to terms with what happened in the ending of the previous book and does not seem to really care about this case. D'Agosta is frustrated with Pendergast but also the fact that every lead he has seems to end nowhere. While I enjoyed this book I didn't really like the fact that Pendergast wasn't being his usual Pendergasty self. (Yes it's a word now. There is no other way to describe him so he gets his own adjective!) This is the second novel in the Dark Artifices series and it was just as good as the first one. I think I've enjoyed this series more than the Mortal Instruments and also the Infernal Devices. There is just something about Emma and the Blackthorn family that has me hooked. I would say that if you are planning on reading this then maybe wait until the third book in the series is released as this book ends in a BIG cliffhanger and the next book isn't going to be released until 2019!!!! I don't even know where to begin describing this book as there is so much happening within the storyline and nothing gets resolved and I have to say that I still do not know where she is going with this series but I think she will weave the 'The Eldest Curses' (another series) she is planning on doing into the mix like she did with the Mortal Instruments and the Infernal Devices. As much as I love the Mortal Instruments series/spinoffs I kind of wish I had waited for her to c...

This is the first novel of (as yet) untitled, new spin off series of Rosemary Beach and Sea Breeze.  It is told from dual perspective of Bliss York (daughter of Eva and Cage York, Sea Breeze) and Nate Finley (son of Blair and Rush Finley, Rosemary Beach). You don't have to have read any of the books in either series before you read this, however at the end of one of the books (and I honestly do not remember which one or which series it was) these two had their first encounter which was honestly just the cutest thing ever and I am glad that Abbi Glines decided to do a spin off series. This book is set 7 years after the two characters briefly dated one summer. Bliss who found out that she had leukaemia right after that summer has been cancer free for the last 4 years and decides it's time to move out of home and move in with her best friend Eli (son of yet another couple from the series) and take control of her life and live it to the fullest.
