The Distant Hours - Kate Morton Review

This is the third book I have read by Kate Morton and I have to say that she is definitely one of my favourite authors. This book follows the same format that her other books (that I have read) follow. It's a historical romance mystery where half the book is memories of the past and half the book is set in the present with the protagonist trying to unravel the mystery of the past. The reason that I love Kate Morton's books is because of the way that she writes. Reading the parts of the book that are set in the past are like trying to fight your way through fog, everything is hazy and slow going but you know that when you make it through the clearing everything will be bright and clear and the mysteries that she has weaved through her book will make sense. Her books are extremely detailed and a lot of the chapters are descriptive and normally I would find this annoying but it just works for the stories she creates and it definitely transports you to the past.
