Read All The Books

This book was absolute perfection! I laughed, I cried, I laugh cried, you get the idea. I wish this book had been longer or that there is a sequel on the way because I need to hear more about Kimi's life. I need to know what happens next. I'm so invested in her life and her family. Plus the way the author describes food and art in this...oh my! This book follows Kimi and her realisation that perhaps she doesn't love art as much as she thought she did or as much as her mother does. She loves clothes! She loves creating clothes, wearing clothes, transforming clothes, basically anything to do with clothes she loves it. Her mother just does not understand and thinks Kimi is wasting her time when she should be focusing on working on her portfolio for the prestigious art academy she has been accepted to. They get into a huge fight! When she receives a letter from her estranged grandparents in Kyoto inviting her for spring break, she takes the chance to get away from all ...

Firstly, I loved this book! It was just so so good and exactly what I needed. I flew through this and immediately added a bunch of Jenn Bennett books to my TBR. Her stories are just so...and her writing...I love! Secondly this book made me want to go camping. My idea of camping is a 2 star hotel...just kidding...or am I... Anyway, Jenn Bennett's writing makes you feel things and not just emotions. I felt like I was right there with Zorrie and Lennon in the wilderness, I could practically smell nature coming off the pages and honestly it just made me feel calm and at peace with the world. Nature will do that to you. So will good writing. Thirdly imagine being stuck in the woods with the guy you hate but actually secretly love...yeah - this story is just straight up fabulous and deals with a lot more than you would expect. Also the parents in this (except for one - you know who you are) are just *chefs kiss.* In conclusion, this book is amazing and you should pick it up...

The Boy Next Story is the second book in the Bookish Boyfriends series. The premise of these books is the main character (usually a female and somehow connected to the main character in the previous story) is set a book to read by the 'magical' English teacher for extra credit and they soon find that their lives follow the path of the character in the novel they are reading. These books are honestly a lot of fun and feature a swoon-worthy romance that will have you adding another bookish boyfriend to your every growing list. This book in particular follows Rory (the younger sister of the previous book's main character) and her struggles coping at her new school Hero High and her heartache with being in love with the boy next door who only seems to have eyes for her sister. Rory is an artist who has a lot of anxiety and feels like she doesn't fit in anywhere - at home or at school. The only times she feels seen and heard are around Toby (the boy next door) t...

In Empire of Storms, our rag tag group of friends are on their way to gather an army to defeat Erawan. I loved seeing them all work together even when they were trying not to kill one another. It finally started to feel like all the pieces were coming together, right up until the ending when it all went to hell.  I don't even know how to feel about that ending. It makes me question how she is going to end this series. Will she break my heart...probably. I'm not ready but also dying to finding out. I loved seeing the interaction between all the different characters in this group. Also loved seeing some old characters come back into the story. Manon is also certainly starting to grow on me which is something I never thought I would say but here we are.  The next book in the series is told through Chaol's perspective and is a parallel novel to Empire of Storms so it looks like I will be waiting a while to see how this series wraps up.     The Remnant Chronicles is a trilogy following Princess Lia, First Daughter who should have the gift of sight.  The first book, The Kiss of Deception starts with Lia about to be wed to a prince she has never met to secure and alliance between two kingdoms, She flees on the morning of her wedding day and starts a new life in a distant village. Unbeknownst to her, the jilted prince sets out to find her. An assassin is also sent out to kill her. The pair show up in the village where Lia has made her new life and Lia soon starts to fall in love with one of them. The best part about this book is the fact that you don;t know who the prince is and who the assassin is. You are in the dark as much as Lia. If you are looking for a fun, quick read then this is the book for you. This book is full of cliches and tropes but that's exactly what makes this an enjoyable read. Dallas is your typical, 'not like other girls' cheerleader and Drayton is your typical bad boy quarterback. You're probably rolling your eyes as you read this but trust me, it works. Dallas knows exactly what she wants in life, a dance scholarship to CalArts and nothing and no one will get in her way, until Drayton literally crashes into her life and suddenly she is left wondering whether or not she needs the good looking bad boy in her life.  While this book is set in high school, I think it would have worked so much better had the main characters been in college. This book follows Bea as she moves to Melbourne to get a new start after ruining her best friend's wedding. Friendless and working at a job she hates, the highlights of her day are her books and getting her daily coffee fix until she discovers a second hand book with beautiful annotations and poems littered throughout. She falls in love with the writing and decides to track down the owner of the book. When I heard that this book is about books, I knew I had to read it! I love reading and finding a book with gorgeous annotations and poetry is every bibliophiles dream. However this did not live up to my expectations. It is in no way a bad book by any means but to me it was just average. I initially loved all the book references in this novel but it quickly got to be too much. This is the debut novel by Casey McQuiston and my gosh is it amazing! This book is everything. It will give you ALL the feels! It follows Alex, the First Son of America as he falls in love with his sworn enemy Prince Henry of Wales. This was the cutest story and made me squee so many times. After a confrontation with Henry at his brother's royal wedding, Alex and Henry are covered in a very expensive wedding cake and both sides have to do damage control. Plan of action. Make it look like Alex and Henry are best friends. After a weekend in England doing interviews and staging fake photos, Alex discovers that perhaps Henry isn't the uptight royal he believed him to be. Perhaps there is more to him than meets the eye. Unravel Me ended on quite the cliffhanger. Omega Point was destroyed. Juliette almost died. Are any of the rebels even alive? Is Adam?! Juliette doesn't know but she will not stop at trying to take down the Restablishment once and for all. So much like book two I decided to read the novella that proceeds this book, Fracture Me which is told through the perspective of Adam and much like I predicted, I hate him now!! Warner for the win!! Adam is truly draining in this book. He is only really out for himself and his younger brother. He doesn't care about anyone else and I wanted to reach through the pages and punch him in the face. Seeing his actual feelings when he believes Juliette is dead is like a slap in the face. He only gets worse in Ignite Me! Like the first two books, this mainly focuses on the romance side of things and the real action of the story happens in the last few chapters and honestly ends rather abruptly in my opinion.  Had this been the real last ...

Unravel Me picks up where Shatter Me left off. Juliette and Adam have joined the group of rebels and help in fighting against the Restablishment. Juliette with the help of some new friends who she learns have powers of their own is learning to control her powers when Warner is suddenly back in the picture. I read the novella Destroy Me which follows the perspective of Warner right after the events of the first book and I truly think I would not have enjoyed Unravel Me as much as I did if I hadn't read it first. You get more insight into Warner and learn that he is not the evil dictator that you once believed he was so that when you get to chapter 62 you die of all the feels and not think umm ok where did that come from. Tahereh Mafi has a way making you hate a character and then love them in the next installment and vice versa in a way that is realistic and not have you thinking oh I suddenly have to love this character because the main character likes them or where the ...

What a wild ride this book ended up being. Some characters I didn't care for in previous books I ended up really liking and some characters I loved in previous books I ended up not particularly caring about anymore. Sarah J Maas has an amazing ability of making you love a character and by the next book you hate them. Just read the first 2 books in her Court of Thorns and Roses series to understand what I mean. So this book picks up where the last left off. Celeana is back in Rifthold to kill the king of assassins and claim her birthright. Naturally that would be too easy, so many things go wrong and it is disaster after disaster. We meets some new characters in this book which at this point should probably be hard to keep track off but each character is so different from another that it's easy to keep track of everyone. However, unlike the first 3 books I will say by the end of this book I was definitely feeling hopeful, like things were on the right track to a happ...

The Assassin's Blade comprises of 5 novellas set before the Throne of Glass series stars. While this is supposed to be read before Throne of Glass I'm glad that I waited to read it part way through the series as I feel like I know who Celeana is and it's interesting to see a little of how she got to be who she was. I feel that if I had read it before the first book I would have been confused.  Through the 5 novellas you get to meet Sam, Celeana's first love and how they went from hate to love. You also find out more about Arobynn and his character. There is also a cast of characters as she travels from remote islands to the red desert, some that you will love and some that you will hate.  This book is a whirlwind of emotions and I can't wait to continue on with the series!

In Heir of Fire we learn a lot more about Celaena and her heritage and we meet an array of new characters. While this series is quickly becoming one of my favourites, I have to admit I did not love this book as much as I liked the other two and that was mainly because of the addition of Manon and the other witches. I found the scenes with them tedious and it made me want to put the book down.  I did love the other new characters that were included especially Rowan and this book had some beautiful quotes in it. 'I claim you to whatever end,' 'She would bow to no one' and 'and then I am going to rattle the stars.'  I feel as the series goes on more and more trouble is around the corner. Like you think OK they just need to solve this crises and then everything will be OK but then something worse happens and then something even worse. If you think you know where Sarah J Maas is going with the story then you are wrong, there are twists and turns around ...

The description of this book was right up my alley, two friends who start fake dating, yes please! I couldn't wait to read it and this book definitely did not disappoint.  Lisa and Matt start fake dating as a way of attracting other people. Everyone knows that people want what they can't have and what better way to have someone notice you then by being in a relationship with someone else. At least that was the plan. Until Matt started to see Lisa as more than a friend. Too bad that Lisa who has always had a crush on Matt refuses to be someones second choice! This was such a refreshing quick read. Filled with Harry Potter references and cute puppies what more could you want out of a book! I loved how this read as a teen book. Wow what an ending! I still can't believe it! I'm dying to pick up the next book to find out what happens next in this series but I told myself I would only read on book per month of this series so it is going to be a long wait! If you are planning on reading this series don't do what I'm doing coz you will be dying to pick up the next book! Crown of Midnight follows shortly after Throne of Glass ending. Celaena has been given her first assignments for the king, kill or be killed.  Celaena is such an interesting character. An assassin who also has a conscious. She is nothing like you would expect and seems to do the unexpected so it is really interesting reading about her. You never know what she will do next. While I felt the first book had a lot more of Prince Dorian in it, this book was full of Chaol and I loved it! I love him and I definitely love him with Celaena. I do love the friendship Celaena has with Prince Dorian but I love the relationship she...

Shatter Me follows Juliette, a girl whose touch is lethal and who was locked away by the Reestablishment 3 years ago. Suddenly they have changed their mind and have decided she is just what they need. A new weapon they can control. The novel is so beautifully written, full of metaphors and similes, it reads like poetry.  Tahereh Mafi does such an amazing job, you can practically feel Juliette's pain through the pages. I did feel like this novel wasn't long enough. I'm not sure how I feel about most characters, I don't feel much attachment to them yet but I assume that will change during the course of this series. I loved the story line though, or at least where I think it is going. There wasn't too much going on in this book until the end when it started to get really good so I definitely can't wait to pick up the next one and dive into the world and it's characters. I gave this 4 out of 5 stars!

So I finally got around to starting this series and I have to admit, I wish I hadn't waited so long to start. I love this series so far! It follows Celaena Sardothien, 18 year old assassin fighting for her freedom by competing to become the King's royal assassin. I loved everything about this book. I love the writing, I love the cast of characters, I love the world and of course the actual story line. Celaena is such a strong female character and I wish I was as cool as she is. I love how she can kill anyone in the blink of an eye but at the same time has a soft side and people want to protect her. Prince Dorian is the sweetest little treasure, I hope he stays that way. Chaol might have been my second favourite character because he is so much like Celaena, a badass who is a big ol softie that deserves all the hugs. What an adorable novel this was! Darcy's twin brother Jamie hires their childhood friend Tom to renovate their grandmother's cottage so they can sell it for a profit. Darcy has had a crush on Tom since they they were 8 but Tom and Jamie have been best friends and Tom's loyalty is 99% Jamie's. Tom shows up one night, newly single and every bit as perfect as Darcy remembers him being. Sparks fly as the renovations begin and Darcy is determined to make Tom 99% hers. Sally Thorne is amazing! She has a way of writing characters that you can't help but like and really feel for.  Darcy is not someone I started off liking. She came across as annoying and bitchy but the more I read the more I loved her and realised she has a heart of gold. Any one who stays up all night sewing underwear for their friend is someone you want to have in your life. Tom reminded me of an overgrown golden retriever puppy. He was just so adorably good! So this was my first time reading a novel by either Becky Albertalli or Adam Silvera, I know, I know what have I been doing with my life!! I am pleased to say that now I absolutely love them and this novel!! This novel is about Ben and Arthur and let me tell you, they are the epitome of cute! I loved their relationship. I loved their meet-cute and their many first dates. I loved them as a couple. I loved them as individuals. Honestly I just loved everything about them! I was rooting for them in the first few pages and was very anxious to see where the story would go. Although it wasn't the ending I was expecting, I was happy with the way things turned out. Arthur is the smolest (smol is a word ok) little bean that needs to be protected at all costs and half the time I just wanted to reach into the story and just give him a hug.
