Read All The Books

This novel is about the Queen of Hearts (before she became the Queen) from Lewis Carrol's Alice in Wonderland. While I have read both Alice in Wonderland and Through the Looking Glass, I'm not a fan of either.  I found them to be just to strange for my taste but perhaps I need to reread them now because I really enjoyed Marissa Meyer's version of Wonderland. This was such a fun read and I would love if she continued on with the Hearts kindom and its characters. Cath was such a great character and seeing her struggles and everything she goes through in this book, you can understand how she becomes to be the way she is in Carrol's version. This novel is quite heartbreaking so just be prepared going in but it is worth it in my opinion. The characters are wonderfully developed and Marissa Meyer writes so beautifully and creates such a wonderful little world that you can almost believe it really exists. This is the first volume in the Wires and Nerve series which follows Iko in her quest to to hunt down the Wolf-hybrid soldiers which are terrorising Earth. This volume follows after the events of the Lunar Chronicles but before the 'Something Old, Something New' novella in Stars Above. I felt this graphic novel was really beautifully done but at the same time I wish it had been longer. I felt just as the story was starting the novel ended. You do not need to have read the Lunar Chronicles series to read this as most of the book is a quick catch-up of the events from the series past but in my opinion you should totally read it. It's amazing and you won't regret it. I really enjoyed getting to read more of Cress and Thorne as they do feature quite a bit in this novel and I hope the next volumes will have more of the other characters as well.                So I read a lot of books in 2016 and I have narrowed it down to my top 5. Not all these books were published in 2016. So in no particular order here are my top 5. 1.        The Count of Monte Cristo - Alexandre Dumas This book had been on my TBR pile since the TV show 'Revenge' came out and I heard that it was based on the book. I finally got around to reading it and I wish I had read it sooner. This book is definitely in my top 10 favourite books of all time. The main character Edmond Dantes is a jailed for a crime he didn't commit. During his time in prison he learns about an island (Monte Cristo) and all the treasure hidden on it so he plans on breaking out, finding the treasures and using it to bring down the people responsible for putting him in prison.
