Read All The Books

Jay and Amie have done it again. They have created another sci-fi that I will love and cherish forever. A none too small feat for someone who rarely likes or reads sci-fi. Aurora Rising follows a group of misfits in the year 2380 on their first space mission.  Tyler Jones is the golden boy squad leader, who the night before he is to pick the squad of his dreams inadvertently finds himself rescuing Aurora (Auri) a girl that has been trapped in interdimensional space in a cryo-sleep for 2 centuries and misses the draft and finds himself stuck with the dregs of the academy. Making up the sorry excuse for squad 312 is  Scarlett, sarcastic twin sister of Tyler, a sweet talker who is as gorgeous as her brother and has the ex boyfriends to show it.  Cat, tomboy pilot who is definitely not in love with her best friend Tyler.  Zila a genius sociopath who is a little too trigger happy with her stun gun around her squad mates.  Fin, grumpy tech ...

A road trip across Australia with friends to see a band, umm yes please sign me up! Sounds like the perfect light summer read. A girl trying to get back together with her ex who is now dating her best friend, this should be interesting and fun is what I thought.  I was honestly expecting a fun quick summer beach read but this book was so much more! Zoey is trying to get her life back together after going off the rails right after losing her brother and she thinks the perfect way to do this is by getting back together with her ex whilst on a road trip to see her favourite band. Things start to get complicated when her ex's cousins join and she finds herself attracted to the dark and moody Luc. While there is a lot of fun times in this book, it is deep and actually quite heartbreaking. I definitely found myself crying. I really felt for Zoey, trying to overcome her sadness and move past her mistakes. Realising that life is short and you should make the most of every day....

Do you ever love a book so much that after you finish reading it, you immediately want to reread it again...no...just me then. I wasn't even half way through reading this book when I knew that I wanted to reread it so that's exactly what I did. I started off by listening to the audiobook and wow was it amazing! Rebecca Soler that does the recording brings this story to life. She makes every character sound unique and really makes you feel like you are right there in Caraval with the characters. I gave this book 5 stars but I wanted to actually physically read it to see if I would give it the same rating as when I listened to it because the audiobook is just that good! So after rereading it I found that I did love it enough to give it 5 stars but I still found the audiobook to be slightly better than physically reading only because I could not make the story sound as good in my own voice as Rebecca Soler. I will definitely be listening to all her audiobooks which is...
