My Reading Journal


In 2019 I have decided to start a reading journal. I saw bookswithChloe's video on her reading journal and it definitely inspired me to start one. 

 I decided to use a Harry Potter journal that I got for Christmas in 2017.

I decided against creating a 2019 title page as the journal has a lot of pages and could be used for next year too so I just went straight in and added my goals for the year:

I also added some of the series I want to start and finish this year as well as some standalone books:


And finally I added my January TBR!





So far I like the way it has turned out but hope I can get it a bit more colourful over time.

WARNING: Contains some spoilers! Ok so where I do begin! First I should probably explain how BIG of a Pretender fan I am. I basically grew up watching this show. I was 10 when it first aired and I even remember seeing the first advertisement on TV announcing that it was coming on and I was already hooked. After a 30 second ad I knew I needed to watch it. White Fire (Pendergast series) - Douglas Preston & Lincoln Child Review

I can't tell you how excited I was to read this book. Douglas Preston and Lincoln Child are two of my favourite authors to read and the Pendergast series is one of my all time favourite book series (second only after Harry Potter). White Fire is the thirteenth book in the Pendergast series about FBI Special Agent A.X.L. Pendergast but you do not have to read the previous 12 before you read this book if you do not want to, (I highly recommend it though) you can read it as a stand-alone book. Even though the book is a Pendergast novel, it's mainly told through Corrie Swanson's (Pendergast's protege and first seen in 'Still Life With Crows') point of view. Corrie currently enrolled at John Jay College of Criminal Justice is working on a thesis which takes her to 'Roaring Fork' an exclusive ski resort in Colorado to examine the remains of 12 miners who were mauled to death by a bear 150 years previously. Wires & Nerve - Marissa Meyer Review

This is the first volume in the Wires and Nerve series which follows Iko in her quest to to hunt down the Wolf-hybrid soldiers which are terrorising Earth. This volume follows after the events of the Lunar Chronicles but before the 'Something Old, Something New' novella in Stars Above. I felt this graphic novel was really beautifully done but at the same time I wish it had been longer. I felt just as the story was starting the novel ended. You do not need to have read the Lunar Chronicles series to read this as most of the book is a quick catch-up of the events from the series past but in my opinion you should totally read it. It's amazing and you won't regret it. I really enjoyed getting to read more of Cress and Thorne as they do feature quite a bit in this novel and I hope the next volumes will have more of the other characters as well.
