The Remnant Chronicles is a trilogy following Princess Lia, First Daughter who should have the gift of sight.

The first book, The Kiss of Deception starts with Lia about to be wed to a prince she has never met to secure and alliance between two kingdoms, She flees on the morning of her wedding day and starts a new life in a distant village. Unbeknownst to her, the jilted prince sets out to find her. An assassin is also sent out to kill her. The pair show up in the village where Lia has made her new life and Lia soon starts to fall in love with one of them.

The best part about this book is the fact that you don;t know who the prince is and who the assassin is. You are in the dark as much as Lia. The novel is a whole lot of fun trying to work it out until it is revealed.

The second and third books, The Heart of Betrayal and The Beauty of Darkness are a whirlwind of drama. Filled with more lies and betrayal then you can imagine, you travel with Lia throughout the kingdoms meeting an array of people as she discovers the person she is destined to be.

I love this series and recommend them wholeheartedly. Lia is such a strong female character who fights for what she believes in and for the people around her. The world building is amazing. The descriptions are rich and had me feeling like I traveled across the desert and back.

I enjoyed all the characters, the good and the bad. I also appreciated that the book was written through multiple people's perspectives. All the character voices stood out from one another, none of the characters bled into another so you could tell whose point of view you were reading from even without the character name as the chapter title.

I truly loved this world and am looking forward to Mary Pearson's other series which is also set in this world.

Pick up this series if you haven't already, you will not regret it.
