Caraval - Stephanie Garber Review

Do you ever love a book so much that after you finish reading it, you immediately want to reread it again...no...just me then. I wasn't even half way through reading this book when I knew that I wanted to reread it so that's exactly what I did. I started off by listening to the audiobook and wow was it amazing! Rebecca Soler that does the recording brings this story to life. She makes every character sound unique and really makes you feel like you are right there in Caraval with the characters. I gave this book 5 stars but I wanted to actually physically read it to see if I would give it the same rating as when I listened to it because the audiobook is just that good! So after rereading it I found that I did love it enough to give it 5 stars but I still found the audiobook to be slightly better than physically reading only because I could not make the story sound as good in my own voice as Rebecca Soler. I will definitely be listening to all her audiobooks which is

Pride & Prejudice & Mistletoe - Melissa De La Cruz Review

When I first saw that this book was coming out I could not wait to get my hands on it! A Pride & Prejudice Christmas retelling by the author who wrote one of my favourite books. Yes please! Then I saw that it was on NetGalley so I requested it, honestly not thinking that it would be sent to me, but somehow the stars aligned, fate was on my side and the lovely people over at Hachette Australia approved my request! Bless them! This modern day Pride & Prejudice retelling is a fun, quick holiday read. I enjoyed that the author gender swapped the characters from the original. Darcy (Pride) is the female and Luke Bennett (Prejudice) is the male. The chemistry between the two was fun to read but I do wish there had been a but more of their banter. While this book is a romance it also focuses on friendship and family and I think that's the epitome of Christmas and was glad that the author included it in this holiday read. While I felt the last half of this book dragged on

Roll The Dice - Wayne Avrashow Review

What happens in Vegas stays in Vegas...unless you're running for office and then nothing stays a secret. Tyler Sloan, rock star, decides to leave his music career behind and run for senator in the state of Nevada. A celebrity running for office...where have I heard that before?! Honestly this book couldn't have come out a more perfect time and having Las Vegas as the backdrop was the ideal setting. Tyler's campaign is fraught with scandals (yes more than one) and the author definitely shines a light on the corruption and what really goes on in politics. I found the book slow to start off with but then it really picked up and I found myself rooting for Tyler and hoping he would win the race and wondering what new hurdle he would have to jump. He is a likeable character who definitely has his flaws but I think that's what made him easy to like. He was relatable. I hope the author writes a second instalment as I would really like to see where Tyler's story

The Count of Monte Cristo Manga Review

I got a copy of this book from Netgalley in exchange for my honest review. I was really excited when I saw that there was a manga version of the Count of Monte Christo but also really apprehensive as it is one of my all time favourite books. A book about getting revenge on people who have wronged you - I mean what's not to love! The manga version is only 400 pages which is definitely a whole lot less than the original version but it definitely does not skimp on any major plot points or characters. In fact I did not feel like anything was missing when I read this. I think I even enjoyed it a little bit more than the original because I could read the whole book in one sitting. The story flowed seamlessly, there were no boring bits and the artwork was incredibly beautiful. Can you fall in love with artwork because wow! Each character had their own distinct look so that you can tell who is who just by a glance at the page. I would recommend this version for anyone that is int
