Fairy Tale Retellings Ebook Haul

Image
Since I have really been enjoying reading fairy-tale retellings the past couple of months I decided to download a few more to add to more collection. So here they are in no particular order:    This was a free download on Kindle. It is book 3 in the 'Timeless Fairy Tales' series. I am currently reading book 1 and liking it so far, so hopefully I will enjoy this one as well.   Books 1-5 in 'The Land of Stories' series and A Treasury of Classic Fairy Tales   Beauty and the Beast by Jennifer Donnelly and   The 'Twisted Tale' series by Liz Braswell. I'm not sure when I have time to read all these but I am looking forward to reading them.

Heartless - Marissa Meyer Review

This novel is about the Queen of Hearts (before she became the Queen) from Lewis Carrol's Alice in Wonderland. While I have read both Alice in Wonderland and Through the Looking Glass, I'm not a fan of either.  I found them to be just to strange for my taste but perhaps I need to reread them now because I really enjoyed Marissa Meyer's version of Wonderland. This was such a fun read and I would love if she continued on with the Hearts kindom and its characters. Cath was such a great character and seeing her struggles and everything she goes through in this book, you can understand how she becomes to be the way she is in Carrol's version. This novel is quite heartbreaking so just be prepared going in but it is worth it in my opinion. The characters are wonderfully developed and Marissa Meyer writes so beautifully and creates such a wonderful little world that you can almost believe it really exists. My favourite thing about this book is that she somehow

Alex & Eliza - Melissa De La Cruz Review

This book was inspired by the Hamilton musical but the love story does not follow the route the musical took. I'm not American, nor do I pretend to know much about American politics but I do know that not a lot was known about Alex and Eliza's relationship so who is to say which version is closer to the truth. What I do know is that I loved this version. I have listened to the Hamilton soundtrack countless times and I love it a little more each time but it was still very easy for me to read this book as a historical romance and not compare it to the musical and have that effect my rating of this book. From their first interaction I was hooked. Getting to read from both their perspectives made it all that more enjoyable. My favourite love stories are definitely the ones where we get to read from both perspectives so I am glad that was the case with this book. Both Alex and Eliza's parts were fun to read and I have to admit I laughed out loud more than once w

Geekerella - Ashley Poston Review

This modern Cinderella retelling is the cutest book ever.  I decided to pick this up as I really enjoyed the beauty and the beast retelling that I read last month so I thought I would give another fairy-tale retelling this month a go and I am so glad that I did. The main character Elle is a 'geek' and spends her days bl ogging about an old sci-fi series 'Starfield.' Elle grew up watching the show and still lives and breathes Starfield. The novel opens with her ushering her step-mother and step-sisters out of the house so that she can watch who will be cast in the new Starfield movie remake as she has been looking forward to this since they announced the remake. Cut to teen sensation Darien Freeman, who is freaking out before his first interview where it will be announced that he will be the lead in the new movie Starfield. Afraid that he will not do the role justice and that the fans of the original will not see him as their Prince Carmindor. Doesn't re
