Shatter Me - Tahereh Mafi Review

Image
Shatter Me follows Juliette, a girl whose touch is lethal and who was locked away by the Reestablishment 3 years ago. Suddenly they have changed their mind and have decided she is just what they need. A new weapon they can control. The novel is so beautifully written, full of metaphors and similes, it reads like poetry.  Tahereh Mafi does such an amazing job, you can practically feel Juliette's pain through the pages. I did feel like this novel wasn't long enough. I'm not sure how I feel about most characters, I don't feel much attachment to them yet but I assume that will change during the course of this series. I loved the story line though, or at least where I think it is going. There wasn't too much going on in this book until the end when it started to get really good so I definitely can't wait to pick up the next one and dive into the world and it's characters. I gave this 4 out of 5 stars!

Throne of Glass - Sarah J Maas Review

So I finally got around to starting this series and I have to admit, I wish I hadn't waited so long to start. I love this series so far! It follows Celaena Sardothien, 18 year old assassin fighting for her freedom by competing to become the King's royal assassin. I loved everything about this book. I love the writing, I love the cast of characters, I love the world and of course the actual story line. Celaena is such a strong female character and I wish I was as cool as she is. I love how she can kill anyone in the blink of an eye but at the same time has a soft side and people want to protect her. Prince Dorian is the sweetest little treasure, I hope he stays that way. Chaol might have been my second favourite character because he is so much like Celaena, a badass who is a big ol softie that deserves all the hugs. Princess Nehemia was also a favourite of mine and I absolutely loved the friendship between her and Celaena and I hope it continues through the res

Queen of Air and Darkness - Cassandra Clare Review

You can catch up on my reviews of the first 2 here : Finally we have to come the last book in the Dark Artifices series and I must say this series ended incredibly well. It continues on straight after the second book and to be perfectly honest I had forgotten what the cliffhanger was in book 2 because I had put it out of my mind as it was just too upsetting but it all came flooding back within the first page. This whole novel was a wild ride from start to finish. Seeing how the Blackthorn family deals with grief and Emma and Julian fighting their parabatai curse while trying to stop the Clave from the brink of war. We see a lot of familiar faces in this novel which is always a good thing and we also meet a few new ones which is always interesting. I wondered how Cassandra Clare was going to solve the parabatai curse as well as the love triangles she is known for but once again she does an amazing job at tying things up and having characters end up with who they are su

My Reading Journal

Image
In 2019 I have decided to start a reading journal. I saw bookswithChloe's video on her reading journal and it definitely inspired me to start one.  I decided to use a Harry Potter journal that I got for Christmas in 2017. I decided against creating a 2019 title page as the journal has a lot of pages and could be used for next year too so I just went straight in and added my goals for the year: I also added some of the series I want to start and finish this year as well as some standalone books: And finally I added my January TBR! So far I like the way it has turned out but hope I can get it a bit more colourful over time.
