Empire of Dust - Eleanor Herman (Blood of Gods & Royals #2)

You can read my review for book one here.

Book two finds our group of heroes/Gods right where we left them.

Pretty boy Hephastion has been cast aside by Alexander and sent off with Katerina on a dangerous mission to Egypt.
Alexander struggles with becoming the leader he wants to be and the leader his country needs.
Jacob trying to forget Katerina is hell bent on being the best Assyrian lord he can be trying to help his brothers get rid of the blood magics.
Cynane being held captive and tortured by the Assyrian lords must find a way to stay alive and escape and poor Princess Zofia trying to find a way to escape Ochus to get to the spirit eaters so that she can change her fate. Will she ever get away. Will they discover the legendary Pegasus? Who knows. I do because I read the book and so should you!

Eleanor Herman does a wonderful job of describing the landscape that you feel like you are right there on the Nile with Heph and Katarina.

Poor Heph constantly getting distracted by a pretty face, he is just so pure and good and I am honestly waiting for the day he realises he is in love with Alexander. He needs to be protected at all costs and is honestly my favourite character.

Olympias is one crazy lady and honestly at this point I am just waiting for her to get what is coming to her.

Cynane is such a love to hate character. While she isn't as crazy as Olympias she is one pain in the neck but at the same time I find myself rooting for her.

I'm still not sure how I feel about Jacob, is he good, is he bad...who can tell just yet.

While it is amazing getting the viewpoints of all the main characters it does make the story drag a bit. While a lot does happen at the same time it feels like not much has happened to each individual character. Just when you start to really get into their story line it cuts to someone else.

This book ends on a cliffhanger and I honestly can't wait to pick up book number 3 and see where the story takes us!
