Mini Magical Readathon: Visit Hogsmeade!


G over at Book Roast is back at it again with another mini readathon while we wait for the NEWTS in August. Here is the link with the video explaining all the rules and the download for the map with the prompts. There are 10 different locations around Hogsmeade that you pick to go to with prompts for each read. You don't have to do all of them but you do need to start at number 1, The Maurauder's Map (read a book with a map) so that you can officially get into Hogsmeade. Once you have finished that you can pick any of the other locations to visit by completing the prompts. You do not have to go to number 2 next.

 I don't think I will be able to complete all 10 prompts as this is only a week long readathon starting from June 22nd and ending on June 28th and I can't read 10 books in a week.

 I have picked 5 prompts but I don't think I will be able to get to all of them but at least I will have some variety to pick during the week. If by chance I do get through them then I will just pick some more during the week.

 So far these are the locations I have settled on:

 9. Owl's Post - Book you got via post or last book you added to your TBR: The Aviary - Emily Shore

 These readathons hosted by G are always really fun and I can't wait for it to start!

WARNING: Contains some spoilers! Ok so where I do begin! First I should probably explain how BIG of a Pretender fan I am. I basically grew up watching this show. I was 10 when it first aired and I even remember seeing the first advertisement on TV announcing that it was coming on and I was already hooked. After a 30 second ad I knew I needed to watch it. The Mindful Way To A Good Night's Sleep - Tzivia Gover Review

I read this book over the span of a week, right before going to bed and I have noticed a slight improvement in my sleeping already. To fully get the benefits of this book, I think you need to constantly work at all the advice given even though some of the advice can be hard to do for some people like me ie. not using any electronics before going to bed. This book is split up into sections going through why getting a good night's sleep is beneficial, understanding your dreams and why we dream and how that affects our sleep to steps on how to actually get a good night's sleep. I really enjoyed the journaling prompts given as well as the step by step guide to meditating. I marked a lot of pages to look back on such as the breathing exercises which I found very helpful to help me in the future. I also thought the sleep/dream quotes scattered throughout this book was a nice touch.

White Fire (Pendergast series) - Douglas Preston & Lincoln Child Review

I can't tell you how excited I was to read this book. Douglas Preston and Lincoln Child are two of my favourite authors to read and the Pendergast series is one of my all time favourite book series (second only after Harry Potter). White Fire is the thirteenth book in the Pendergast series about FBI Special Agent A.X.L. Pendergast but you do not have to read the previous 12 before you read this book if you do not want to, (I highly recommend it though) you can read it as a stand-alone book. Even though the book is a Pendergast novel, it's mainly told through Corrie Swanson's (Pendergast's protege and first seen in 'Still Life With Crows') point of view. Corrie currently enrolled at John Jay College of Criminal Justice is working on a thesis which takes her to 'Roaring Fork' an exclusive ski resort in Colorado to examine the remains of 12 miners who were mauled to death by a bear 150 years previously.
