End of Year Book Tag 2018!


1. Are there any books you started this year that you need to finish?

There aren't any books that I need to finish by the end of the year except for the last book that I will be reading.

2. Do you have an autumnal book to transition into the end of the year?

I'm going to follow last years thinking with this question and pick a summer book since spring is almost over here and pick I believe in a thing called love by Maurene Goo because the book cover gives me summer vibes.

3. Is there any new release that you are waiting for?

Queen of Air and Darkness by Cassandra Clare. Been waiting since last year.

4. What are 3 books you want to read before the end of the year?

I want to read Runaways Vol 1 by Rainbow Rowell, Queen of Air and Darkness by Cassandra Clare and Ladies Guide to Petticoats and Piracy by Mackenzie Lee

 5. Is there a book that could still shock you that could become your favourite of the year?

I don't think anything will beat Legendary by Stephanie Garber to be honest.

6. Have you started making any reading plans for 2018?

My only plans thus far are to read the Throne of Glass series by Sarah J Maas. Will make another post about my reading goals later on.

WARNING: Contains some spoilers! Ok so where I do begin! First I should probably explain how BIG of a Pretender fan I am. I basically grew up watching this show. I was 10 when it first aired and I even remember seeing the first advertisement on TV announcing that it was coming on and I was already hooked. After a 30 second ad I knew I needed to watch it. Watching the show was basically my childhood and early teen years. Any chance my sister and I had we would be watching it (we used to record the episodes on VHS - this was before TiVo) and re-watching it and re-watching it. The Mindful Way To A Good Night's Sleep - Tzivia Gover Review

I read this book over the span of a week, right before going to bed and I have noticed a slight improvement in my sleeping already. To fully get the benefits of this book, I think you need to constantly work at all the advice given even though some of the advice can be hard to do for some people like me ie. not using any electronics before going to bed. This book is split up into sections going through why getting a good night's sleep is beneficial, understanding your dreams and why we dream and how that affects our sleep to steps on how to actually get a good night's sleep. I really enjoyed the journaling prompts given as well as the step by step guide to meditating. I marked a lot of pages to look back on such as the breathing exercises which I found very helpful to help me in the future. I also thought the sleep/dream quotes scattered throughout this book was a nice touch.

White Fire (Pendergast series) - Douglas Preston & Lincoln Child Review

I can't tell you how excited I was to read this book. Douglas Preston and Lincoln Child are two of my favourite authors to read and the Pendergast series is one of my all time favourite book series (second only after Harry Potter). White Fire is the thirteenth book in the Pendergast series about FBI Special Agent A.X.L. Pendergast but you do not have to read the previous 12 before you read this book if you do not want to, (I highly recommend it though) you can read it as a stand-alone book. Even though the book is a Pendergast novel, it's mainly told through Corrie Swanson's (Pendergast's protege and first seen in 'Still Life With Crows') point of view. Corrie currently enrolled at John Jay College of Criminal Justice is working on a thesis which takes her to 'Roaring Fork' an exclusive ski resort in Colorado to examine the remains of 12 miners who were mauled to death by a bear 150 years previously.
