Charms Extra Credit & Spookathon Wrap-Up


Although I didn't manage to get through all the books in my Charms Extra Credit TBR, I did manage to get through 4 of them so I am very happy that I will now have 4 extra days for Charms during next year's O.W.L.S readathon.

 I managed to read, The Book Thief by Marcus Zuzak, Pants on Fire by Meg Cabot, Heist Society by Ally Carter and Nevernight by Jay Kristoff which completed the accio, incendio, rictusempra and lumos charms.

 I am very happy with how this readathon worked out.

 I did not do well in the Spookathon however, in fact I failed miserably. I only managed to get through 2 books.

 The Naturals by Jennifer Lynn Barnes and Killing Time by Linda Howard which only completed 2 of the challenges.

 Perhaps doing 2 readathons back to back was not the best idea. I will definitely be giving the Spookathon another go next year and hopefully I will do much better.

The Mindful Way To A Good Night's Sleep - Tzivia Gover Review

I read this book over the span of a week, right before going to bed and I have noticed a slight improvement in my sleeping already. To fully get the benefits of this book, I think you need to constantly work at all the advice given even though some of the advice can be hard to do for some people like me ie. not using any electronics before going to bed. This book is split up into sections going through why getting a good night's sleep is beneficial, understanding your dreams and why we dream and how that affects our sleep to steps on how to actually get a good night's sleep. I really enjoyed the journaling prompts given as well as the step by step guide to meditating. I marked a lot of pages to look back on such as the breathing exercises which I found very helpful to help me in the future. I also thought the sleep/dream quotes scattered throughout this book was a nice touch.

White Fire (Pendergast series) - Douglas Preston & Lincoln Child Review

I can't tell you how excited I was to read this book. Douglas Preston and Lincoln Child are two of my favourite authors to read and the Pendergast series is one of my all time favourite book series (second only after Harry Potter). White Fire is the thirteenth book in the Pendergast series about FBI Special Agent A.X.L. Pendergast but you do not have to read the previous 12 before you read this book if you do not want to, (I highly recommend it though) you can read it as a stand-alone book. Even though the book is a Pendergast novel, it's mainly told through Corrie Swanson's (Pendergast's protege and first seen in 'Still Life With Crows') point of view. Corrie currently enrolled at John Jay College of Criminal Justice is working on a thesis which takes her to 'Roaring Fork' an exclusive ski resort in Colorado to examine the remains of 12 miners who were mauled to death by a bear 150 years previously.
