Stay Sweet - Siobhan Vivian Review

This novel opens in 1944, Molly Meade trying to cheer up her friends with ice cream while they wait for their boys to return from war, has just created the ultimate flavour and thus begins Meade Creamery.

Fast forward to present day, Amelia has spent her summers working at the ice cream stand and is just about to start her summer as 'Head Girl.' Amelia can't wait to begin. She loves everything about working at the stand, the ice cream, the friendships she has made with the other 'Meade Girls', the responsibilities, heck she doesn't even mind the cleaning that much.

Unfortunately the day before she is set to begin, she finds Molly has passed away and Amelia is afraid that is the end of Meade Creamery and her summer job. Enter Grady, Molly's grandnephew who has inherited the place and is set to reopen the stand and asks if Amelia will help. While Amelia is unsure how the stand will go on without Molly and worse with a male in charge she loves the Creamery too much and agrees to help.

My only issues with the book where that some of the characters were annoying! Cate, Amelia's best friend honestly was a nightmare for me. The kind of friend that no one needs in their life. If someone is jealous of your success they are not your friend. Cut them out! Grady was only bearable when he wasn't acting as the boss. He truly had no idea how to run a business and honestly contributed nothing to the story aside from being a love interest and the money behind the reopening.

My favourite part of this book was Molly's diary and finding out about her life, how she started her business and her love of it. I loved how it was incorporated into the chapters so you almost got 2 stories in this novel, the past and everything that happened and also present time and how things were and how they had changed.

This novel was truly sweet and sugary! Amelia's love for the Creamery and her work ethic makes you want to open your own ice cream stand. It is truly a perfect book to read in the summer while you lick an ice cream cone!
