Saving Luke - Steven Long Mitchell & Craig W. Van Sickle Book Review

WARNING: Contains some spoilers!

Saving Luke is the sequel in the Pretender 'Rebirth' Series. Click here for my review on the first novel Rebirth.

When I heard that the reviews of Saving Luke were all very positive I was even more eager for it come out so I could get my hands on it and I have to say I wasn't disappointed.

Jarod continues his search for poor kidnapped Luke in this novel whilst delivering much needed justice to the patients that were wronged in Rebirth via his own interesting methods.

This novel is action packed and from the first chapter is just Go, Go Go!! The aerial battle chapter will have you on the edge of your seat as will the dramatic ending.

Saving Luke played out in my head like an episode on TV which I absolutely love in a book. The characters came to life and sucked me into the Pretender universe.

We learn a bit more about Sydney in this novel including his last name which is...sorry you'll just have to buy the book to find out. Although there is still mention of Cornelius whom I disliked in Rebirth, he didn't play as big a role in this novel which I am very grateful for. We also learn a little bit more about Dara, the young empath that likes to ride her trike in the hallways of the Centre. She is quite the character! Reminds me of Angelo for those of you who have seen the TV series. Wouldn't be surprised if she turns out to be his daughter...stranger things have happened! Daphne is still on her mission to find out Miss Parker's first name and comes quite close but I'm kinda grateful she hasn't. As much as I'd love to know I kinda like the mystery of not knowing. You know!

For a Miss Parker and Jarod shipper this book is a must read! Any interaction between the two of them is a win in my book as they are my OTP but we do learn a bit more about their teenage years and their feelings for each other. Getting in the mind of young Miss Parker is quite an interesting read and I'm really looking forward to finding out more about why she is the way she is and what makes her tick.

There are a couple of surprises towards the end of the novel which had me cheering a little too loudly. As Sydney would say I was having a 'catecholamine hormonal episode!' (This is my favourite line in the book and I will be using it on a daily basis. Thanks Steve and Craig!)

Once again just like Rebirth, Saving Luke will leave you with more questions asked and unanswered and dying to know what happens next in the Pretender universe! I'm looking forward to finding out!

Saving Luke is a fantastic read and I highly recommend it!
